Effect of Nano-TiO_2 on the Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resin and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composite

The nano-TiO2 was dispersed in epoxy resin by using ultrasonic technology.The effects of the nano-TiO2 content on the mechanical properties of epoxy resin and carbon fiber/epoxy composites were investigated.The study showed that the cured resin was reinforced and toughed simultaneously by the introduction of nano-TiO2.The impact fracture morphology was the typical ductile rupture.Moreover,the interface bonding properties between carbon fiber and resin matrix were improved by the addition of nanoparticles,and the interlaminar shear strength of composites was also improved.
