Current challenges in surgical training – the trainee's perspective

Though a rewarding career path, the journey of surgical training is not without many challenges. Balancing service provision with training while dealing with the personal and professional devastating effects of a global pandemic has taken its toll on the trainee workforce. In this article, we will discuss the results of the findings of surveys including COVID-STAR, GMC surveys and generated consensus, the Kennedy Report on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the implications for surgical training.
