Advances in cranio-maxillofacial surgery, in conjunction with the development of plating systems that provide rigid internal fixation of facial fractures have totally changed the surgical management. However, complex and panfacial fractures pose a challenge to the surgeon. Pre- und postoperative radiological assessment by using 2D-CT and 3D-CT-techniques are of particular importance to avoid failures and errors in reconstruction of the facial architecture.
