Controlled study using integrative medicine in subjects allergic against pollen—application of an emotional-functional measurement method

2008
Background There is evidence that stress plays a significant role in the development of allergy. Therefore it is important to identify individual reactions towards stress to detect the cause of allergy in those subjects. Reactions towards stress are controlled by the autonomous nervous system and the system of the biological rhythm. The aim of the subjects's reaction towards stress is to accommodate or adapt the whole organism and parts of it, respectively, to the stressor. Aim Based on the given stressor “pollen” and the stress reaction “pollen allergy” in subjects with allergic reactions to pollen the study will evaluate: • Which individual emotional-functional reaction (ESP) lead to the stress reaction? • Is it possible to estimate characteristic ESP with regard to their quantity and quality using SFA without contact? • Is it possible to establish a relationship between allergen, constitution, life style, and conditioning? Method By applying the special time series analysis on the acustic bio signal “voice” according to Heinen the following parameters will be determined: • redox system, acid-base equilibrium, hormone system, autonomous nervous system • personality profile • contexct of behaviour patterns as a age-frequency-relation Design of the controlled study (performed between 2006 and 2008) Accompanying the SIT the SFA is performed twice at the following points: 4 weeks before the first SIT, immediately before the first SIT, 1 week after the fourth SIT, and at the point of maximum pollen concentration. A total of 320 patients were included into the study. Subjects of a control group were examined parallel to the subjects receiving therapy. Hypothese • The characteristic features of the emotional-functional stress parameters can be estimated by the voice frequency analysis without contact • The results of the measurement can be reproduced • The Method is valid (specificity and sensitivity >90%). Conclusion The study will assess whether the voice frequency analysis will satisfy the following expectations: • Fast control of the effect of the SIT • Individualized diagnostc and SIT • Higher effectiveness, efficiency and safety for the patient • Expansion of the diagnostics of allergic reactions by including physiological, psychological and morphological stress factors.
