Dandruff is a common, non-contagious condition, marked by itching and flaking of the skin on the scalp. It is considered to be a mild form of seborrhoeic dermatitis, an inflammatory condition which usually occurs in areas of the body that have many oil-producing glands, such as the scalp. It is also common during infancy and causes a condition known as cradle cap.
