Hydrogen-bond assembled biohybrid frameworks: Beyond the record-high protein content
2021
In the recent work of Ouyang et al., a series of protein-directed, hydron-bonded, crystalline biohybrid frameworks have been rationally designed, facilely constructed, and visually characterized by advanced low-dose cryo-electron microscopy. Beyond the record-high protein content, the reported biohybrid frameworks have exhibited remarkably improved stability, well-kept bioactivity, and other advantages compared to the free proteins as well as the glowing hybrids of proteins and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
