Numerical Simulation of Hydraulic Transient for Pipeline Leakage

In this paper the hydraulic transient property of pipeline flow is simulated and analyzed in order to detect the leakage location precisely. Hydraulic transient mathematical model of leaking is established for the unsteady flow in accordance with the methods of characteristics. The variety of pressure and flow rate at pump station’s exit and leakage point are obtained. The characteristics of hydraulic transient have been obtained. The mathematical model and calculation method can provide an effective way for the locating of pipeline leakage.
