Introduction: Protective measures with regulatory purposes are impor- tant to protect people from the stimulation of risk health feeding. Objective: Identify and discuss the available material about following security measures for healthy eating implemented in Brazil: food advertising and reduction of sodium and trans fat amount in food. Meth- ods: Federal resolutions, laws and articles from the databases of the Ministry of Health (Brazil), LILACS, MEDLINE, SciELO, BIREME, published from 2000 to 2012 were selected through electronic search. Results: It was found 32 publications including articles and laws, 12 of which were excluded for not comprising the inclusion criteria. In regards of food advertising, the control is necessary because most processed foods have intrinsic unhealthy characteristics. Other protective measure is to reduce the amount dietary sodium and trans fats, because of the association between this comp and cardiovascular disease. Conclu- sion: Brazil has sought to establish regulatory measures for protection of healthy eating, and despite agreements with the food industries, it is important to promote monitoring actions, raise public awareness about quality of food, and encourage healthy eating. Furthermore it is im- portant to improve food and diet health concept by food's experts that consider socialenvironmen- tal and cultural aspects.
