Surface oxide-support interaction (SOSI) or the molecular design of supported metal oxide selective oxidation catalysts

Study of the molecular design aspects of supported vanadium catalysts as a function of oxide support (TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , ZrO 2 and Nb 2 O 5 ), synthesis method and catalyst composition. Comparison with other supported metal oxide systems (MoO 3 , Re 2 O 7 and CrO 3 ) will also be made. It is possible to molecularly design supported metal oxide catalysts with knowledge of the surface oxide-support interactions made possible by the assistance of characterization methods such as Raman spectroscopy and the methanol oxidation reaction
