Green laser ablation-based synthesis of functional nanomaterials for generation, storage and detection of hydrogen

2021
Abstract Hydrogen is an ideal energy source from the point of view of ecology. The development of efficient technologies for its production with minimum carbon emission is an urgent task for the near future. The solution to this problem is possible via design and preparation of novel revolutionary materials for various processes of water splitting. The unique high-energy laser ablation method is one of promising approaches to prepare such materials. This review summarizes recent advances in the use of laser ablation in liquid phase as a technique for the synthesis of catalysts for hydrogen production. In addition, we also cover similar nanomaterials generated in gas environment and consider laser-produced nanomaterials for hydrogen storage and detection.
