Study on Cancer of the Gastric Remnant by the Type of Reconstruction at Previous Gastrectomy

1993
In our study on carcinoma of the remnant stomach which detected more than 10 years after the initial gastrectomy, there was a difference in the period from the initial operation to the detection of carcinoma of the remnant stomach and the main site of occupancy by the carcinoma on detection according to reconstruction method employed in the initial gastrectomy. Periodical endoscopic screening of the gastric remnant after distal partial gastrectomy is essential, and careful attention should be paid for the findings in the region of gastric suture line particularly in the cases of Billroth I reconstruction.
