Peri-infarction ventricular arrythmias may cause clinical deterioration of patients, sometime require prolonged hospitalization in the intensive care unit as well as invasive treatment.The main mechanism leading to their occurrence is the re-entry phenomenon, less frequently it is the dispersion of repolarization. Pharmacological or non-pharmacological management of such arrhythmias includes the use of beta-blockers, amiodarone, lignocaine, cardioverter-defibrillator, ablation or neuroaxial modulation for electrical strom. This study presents the influence of direct heart hypothermia on the ventricular arrhytmhmias accompanying the acute phase of myocardial infarction in pigs.
