Remote information resources as an important component of information support of fundamental science

This paper discusses the main fields of scientific-information services of the country’s leading scientists that are performed by the VINITI RAS. The list of bibliographic and full-text DBs that are available in the iterative mode is given. The difficulties arising when articles are loaded from remote information resources through the Internet are pointed out, and the information is given about the average volumes of pdf-format articles for a number of foreign scientific journals. The list of the most frequently requested scientific journals on biochemistry and biomedicine that are not accessible to the VINITI is presented. The priority of developing critical technologies must be taken into consideration when obtaining subscriptions of the VINITI to literature for 2010.
