Genèse d'un bassin sédimentaire en régime de tectonique extensive : l'exemple du bassin intramontagneux oligo-miocène de Paziols-Tuchan (Corbières, France)

1996
The sedimentary basin of Paziols-Tuchan is located in the Corbieres area. This study has been conducted with geomorphologic, tectonic and sedimentary techniques. Two continental sedimentary cycles, operating during the Oligo-Miocene, have been identified. The sedimentation of the upper cycle clearly depends on normal and listric faults. This extensional dynamics induced radical changes in the drainage network and controlled the Miocene syntectonic sedimentation, structured in roll-over. This Oligo-Miocene extensive tectonics was proved in the neighbouring Sigean-Narbonne half-graben (Gorini et al., 1991). The subsidence of the basin is closely linked to the Oligo-Miocene rifting in the Western Mediterranean (Gulf of Lions).
