Effect of hospice care for the psychological counseling on terminal cancer patients and family members

Objective To study the effect of hospice care for the psychological counseling on terminal cancer patients and family members. Methods From January 2013 to January 2015,82 terminal cancer patients in The Fourth People's Hospital of Guangyuan were enrolled in the study and divided into treatment group and control group randomly. Hospice care and normal treatment was adapted to treatment group and the psychological counseling was given to patient's families. The conventional treatment nursing measures was adapted to control group. The pain index of cancer patients and the improvement of situation of negative emotion to cancer patients' families were observed and recorded. Results The intervention of hospice nursing on the patients with more than 1 mo,the pain of treatment group significantly reduced( P 0. 05),and the cancer patient's families of the negative emotions improved significantly compared with control group( P 0. 05). Conclusions The pain situation of advanced cancer patients with hospice care was improved significantly and the negative emotions of patients' family members were reduced. It deserves clinical application widely.
