Incidence of dengue fever in the city of Chapecó, west of Santa Catarina state, Brazil

In Brazil, Dengue Fever is present in all of the 27 States. This country has reported the largest number of cases among the American Continent in the past two decades. In this context, this study has aimed the evaluation of the incidence of cases in the city of Chapeco and the description of the epidemiological profile of individuals affected within the years of 2015 and 2016. This is an observational transversal quantitative study done from the analysis of data from the City Control Program of Dengue, PMCD. In the year of 2005, 13 imported and 34 autochthonous cases of Dengue in the city of Chapeco were notified. In the year of 2016, the number increased to 820 autochthonous cases. The intense presence of the transmitter A. aegypti in the city of Chapeco determines the need of its control and thus the reduction in contamination.
