A novel, effective and low-cost catalyst for electrooxidation of formaldehyde in alkaline medium

2018
This communication reports the study of the electrocatalytic properties towards the electrooxidation of formaldehyde on a relatively low-cost electrode material based on metallic copper films electroless deposited on epoxy glass support. The proposed electrode material, noted Cu/EG, was found to be efficient electrocatalyst for anodic oxidation of formaldehyde in alkaline solution. Activity was strongly dependent on the morphology of the copper products.
