The patient is a 40-year-old African-American male US rmy Reservist who was called to active duty for the war gainst terrorism. The patient underwent an initial dental creening at Fort Stewart, GA, including a panoramic radioraph. The radiograph demonstrated a 3 cm 4 cm uniloclar radiolucency of the left retromolar area, and subtle rosion of the distal root of the mandibular second molar. he patient was then referred to the Oral and Maxillofacial urgery Service, Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort tewart, GA. The patient’s dental history was significant for he removal of his third molars over 10 years before this
