Smart advancements of key challenges in graphene-assembly glucose sensor technologies: A mini review

2021
Abstract The ever raising prevalence of diabetes and its related other health complicacies slowly deteriorating the healthy life style of the peoples due to lack of control and prevention. To tackle the challenge of the current scenario, it is the need of the hour to invent smart and economic biosensors for daily diagnosis of glucose at home. The most brilliant electronic material ‘Graphene’ is the huge revolution in Nanoscience and Materials Science, which has gained promising applications in biomedical field including biosensors. Both the non-enzymatic and enzymatic fabrication of graphene nanocomposities increases the electrochemical properties of biosensors leading to the ultra-fast response and provides excellent sensitivity, selectivity and low limit of detection (LOD) for glucose detection. Comparatively to conventional way of diagnosis, graphene-assembly nano biosensors are safe to handle, less time consuming, portable, cost-effective and most importantly utilized for daily measurement of glucose level, therefore, it is now one of the first choice among researchers. This mini review signifies the wonderful concepts which covered so far by graphene based enzymatic and non-enzymatic both nanosensors for glucose monitoring starting literature from 2017 to 2021.
