Development of electrode materials for high-performance supercapacitors

Abstract This chapter describes the different types of materials, particularly porous materials, applied in energy storage devices and supercapacitors. The classification of nanomaterials and nanoporous materials is also discussed in detail. Porous materials are classified into different categories based on their size, properties, and applications. A detailed review of carbon-based nanoporous materials, metal and metal oxide porous materials, metal oxide composite/carbon-based materials, and their applications, especially in energy storage devices, is provided. The chapter is aimed at helping readers in the selection of appropriate nanomaterials for utilization in the manufacturing of supercapacitors as energy storage devices.
