Management of the Complications Following Fractures Around the Knee (Infection and Non-union)

Many complications can occur after a fracture in the knee region. In this chapter we have analysed the main problems that can emerge (infections, nonunions, malunions), divided by the three anatomical bone structures, distal femur, proximal tibia, patella. For each of them we propose different solutions (plating, external fixation, nailing, knee fusion, debridement, distraction osteogenesis), discussing pros and cons, possibilities and limitations.
