Refractive indices, attenuation coefficients andreflectance ofconstruction materials including gypsum boardsandrockwoolceiling plates aredetermined inthe terahertz region withtimedomainspectroscopy (TDS).The measurement showscareful consideration needstousethese constants formodeling ofTHz indoor-application systems becausetheconstruction materials areinhomogeneous and randommedia. I. INTRODUCTION Measurement ofoptical characteristics ofconstruction materials isnecessary fordeveloping indoor terahertz sensing systems, forexample, usedbyrescue corpsin collapsed and/or burning buildings. Theindoor THzshort- range high-speed wireless communication system isanother important application (1).So farelectromagnetic characteristics inmillimeter at62GHzand70GHz(2)and terahertz wavesbelow0.35THz(3)aremeasured forplaster, glass plates andother fewmaterials. Ourresearch presents optical constants ofcommercial construction materials at higher terahertz frequencies.
