Worldwide overview and trend for clean and efficient use of coal

Abstract This chapter present the current status of coal for energy production applications, from available reserve and production, including an overview of the efficiency of the power plants in the world. Therefore also information about coal consumption and CO 2 emission are summarized for country or for world geographic areas. The program and the first approach to the carbon-dioxide capture, storage and reuse are summarized, as well as, the pre- and post-combustion trial to reduce the CO 2 emission and the oxy-fuel combustion systems.The future trend on coal use after the CO21 Paris conference is also shortly discussed.
