Use of expanded copper mesh grid for negative electrodes of sealed lead storage batteries

2005
Abstract Effect of electrolysis conditions on properties of electroplating of lead and its alloys is studied. It is shown that two-layer electroplating (the first layer of lead–tin–zinc alloy and the second layer of lead) using nitrilotriacetate-electrolyte (NTA-electrolyte) applied to expanded copper mesh grid (ECMG) of negative electrodes ensures reliable copper protection against the contact with storage battery electrolyte and makes it possible to use ECMG in sealed storage batteries.
