Methods of Calculation and Numerical Stability Analysis of Spherical Shell Subjected to External Pressure in Worldwide Pressure Vessel Standards

Through the calculation of practical engineering examples and eigenvalue analysis by using numerical method,the calculation methods for spherical shell subjected to external pressure provided in worldwide pressure vessel standards were compared.It has been shown that compared with EN13445-3 andΓOCT14249,the method provided in GB150,JB4732,ASME Ⅷ-1 and ASME Ⅷ-2 is conservative.Besides,in this paper,the structural layout of strengthener on elliptical head was analyzed and discussed.
