Hybrid and novel solar hydrogen systems

Abstract This chapter focuses on novel proof-of-concept configurations for hybrid solar hydrogen production, integrating different technologies and/or renewable energy sources. In particular, the focus is on complex solar-based systems also able to produce hydrogen among the possible by-products. In particular, the focus is on novel and hybrid systems using simultaneously solar energy and other renewable energy sources to produce hydrogen. The available layouts investigated in literature are analyzed and presented both from an energy and economic standpoints of view. Moreover, in this chapter focus is put on system integration and control strategies that are commonly implemented to manage hybrid systems.
