Cognitive optimization – essential element of neurological rehabilitation

2014
Central neurological conditions are frequently accompanied by cognitive impairments, affecting attention, focusing capacity, spatial and temporal perception, self perception, memory, calculation ability, praxis, speech perception and expression. Cognitive rehabilitation is a domain in continuous development, due to the fact that active, conscious and willful involvement of the patient in the therapeutical intervention is essential for an effective rehabilitation. Individually tailored cognitive optimization intervention seem to be the most efficient approach, up to now, but the designing and the clinical implementation of working protocols of general application would ease the work of the clinician psychologist and would reduce the time costs of the rehabilitation process.
