Yolk-Shell Structured Functional Nanoreactors for Organic Transformations

2021
Functional nanoreactors have attracted a great deal of attention in a variety of scientific fields over the past years. Especially, the unique structural features of yolk-shell nanoreactors have brought promising advantages for catalysis, delivery, energy conversion, and storage. In this chapter, various synthetic strategies of yolk-shell nanoreactors are summarized, including hard templating, soft templating, ship-in-bottle, and self-templating methods. We further demonstrate some remarkable advantages of such yolk-shell structured nanoreactors for organic transformations in virtue of their exceptional composition-/structure-induced merits. Finally, the outlook and challenges for future developments in the design of advanced functional nanoreactors are discussed.
