A new measurement of the π0 lifetime through the Primakoff effect in nuclei

A new measurement of the π0 lifetime through the Primakoff effect on nuclei was performed at DESY. The π0 photoproduction at small angles was measured on four elements (C, Zn, Ag, Pb) at two energies (1.5 GeV and 2.0 GeV). The final result for the lifetime is τ=(0.56±0.06)·10−16 s.
