Some Aspects of the Management of Glaucoma Patients

1977
Glaucoma is the disease in which the IOP is too high for continued maintenance of visual function. If one accepts the vascular theory, glaucoma is that disease in which the perfusion pressure of the capillaries of the optic disc is insufficient for maintaining function of the nerve fibre bundles at the optic disc. The two main points of concern are the IOP on the one hand and the local blood pressure in the capillaries of the optic disc on the other hand.
