Oral contraceptives: newer formulations and new data.

The health care provider should be able to: evaluate the most recent data on newer oral contraceptive (OC) formulations in order to assess their risk/benefit profiles; explain to patients the concept of evidence-based medicine and its application to data regarding OCs; and assess risks/benefits of OCs from the perspective of epidemiologic data.
