Humeral Shaft Fractures and External Fixator

2015
Humeral shaft fractures account for about 1–3 % of all fractures. The overall incidence rate is about 14.5/100,000 people/year and open fractures amount to 2 %. Two classes of patients are the most interested ones: young patients with a high-energy trauma or elderly patient with a low energy injury. Nevertheless, the average age for both genders is 68 for females and 53 for males. In this chapter diagnosis and classification, surgical indications and external fixation techniques are described.
