Trauma scorings of explosive injury

Objectives To explore effective and quantitative trauma scorings of explosive injury in goats.Methods The explosive damage severity of 69 goats was respectively assessed by the traditional pathology assessment standards of blast injuries and ISS.The consistency and efficiency of the 2 assessments was checked.Results(1)Description of AIS codes related to blast lung injury in AIS2005 is too simple to explain effectively the real injury severity of lung.(2)By AIS2005 codes integrated with the traditional pathology assessment standards,ISS showed the same efficiency as the traditional pathology assessment standards in the evaluation of the severity of blast injury.(3)In the severity assessment of blast injury with segment and other injury,ISS could explain real injury severity more exactly than the traditional pathology assessment standards.Conclusion In the severity assessment of lung blast injury,AIS2005 should be integrated with the traditional pathology assessment standard.
