A process for recovering ruthenium from a ruthenium-supported catalyst material

Process for the recovery of ruthenium in the form of ruthenium halide, in particular Rutheniumchlor, a ruthenium-supported catalyst material having at least the following steps: a) chemical digestion of the catalyst material, b) preparing a crude ruthenium salt, c) purification of the crude ruthenium salt and optionally expelling gaseous ruthenium tetroxide from the solution, d) then treating the compound obtained in c) the purified ruthenium compound, in particular ruthenium tetroxide, with hydrogen halide or hydrogen halide acid for the recovery of ruthenium halide, in particular with hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid for the recovery of ruthenium chloride.
