Low energy electroplasticity in aluminum alloys
2020
Abstract Here, we report a low energy electroplasticity event in alloyed aluminum (Al7050) at a much lower current ( 0.035 A / m m 2 ) than the previously reported threshold of ~ 10 A / m m 2 , leading to 10% hardness reduction and 38% creep enhancement. Ab-initio calculations unveiled a reduced energy barrier to dislocation motion with the presence of alloying elements.
