TheIL-16�rs4778889�T/Cpolymorphismisassociatedwithcancerrisk.�However,�theresultsareconflicting.� We performed this meta-analysis to derive a more precise estimation of the relationship. A comprehensive literaturesearchwasperformedusingPubMed,�EmbaseandWebofSciencedatabases.�Oddsratio�(OR)�and� 95%�confidenceinterval�(CI)�wereusedtoassessthestrengthofassociation.�Atotalof�6�studiesincluding�1,603� casesand�2,342�controlswereidentified.� Withallstudiesinvolved,�resultsshowednostatisticallysignificant� associationbetweenIL-16�rs4778889�T/Cpolymorphismandcancerrisk�(CCvs.�CT+TT:�OR=0.74,�95%CI:� 0.55-1.02, P h =0.15;�CC+CTvs.�TT:�OR=0.89,�95%CI:�0.72-1.10,�P h �=0.03;�CCvs.�TT:�OR=0.73,�95%CI:�0.53- 1.00, P h �=0.08;�CTvs.�TT:�OR=0.91,�95%CI:�0.79-1.05,�P h �=0.08;�Cvs.�T:�OR=0.89,�95%CI:�0.74-1.07,�P h �=0.02).� Inaddition,�theresultswerenotchangedwhenstudieswerestratifiedbycancertype.�However,�toverifyour� findings,�itisessentialtoperformmorewell-designedstudieswithlargersamplesizesinthefuture.�
