NF3 decomposition over V2O5, Fe2O3 and Co3O4 coated-Al2O3 reagents: the effect of promoter loadings on reactivity

Abstract The decomposition of NF3 as a high greenhouse gas in the absence of water over some metal oxides is a practical method for its destruction. In this work, NF3 decomposition over the V2O5, Fe2O3, Co3O4 coated-Al2O3 reagents with various loadings of promoters was investigated. The results show that in contrast to bare Al2O3, the reactivity of coated-Al2O3 reagents for NF3 decomposition was improved due to the enhancement in the fluorination of Al2O3 substrate caused by the surface promoters. In this study, a preparation strategy of highly active Al2O3-based reagents for NF3 decomposition is provided.
