Practice of Problem Based Learning Method in the Teaching of Immunology under the Eight-Academic-Year-System

PBL(problem based learning) is a new direction of teaching method in our country.We aim to explore this new teaching method for Immunology,especially under our eight-academic-year-system.Starting at 2007,we adopted a new mode of teaching by combining the traditional teaching method with PBL teaching method.This new teaching method was applied to the group of student intake at 2004-2005.The basic knowledge was taught firstly using the traditional methods,and then separated tutorial classes were arranged for students to discuss under the guidance by the teachers.Questionnaire type investigation and classroom observation were used to evaluate the effectiveness of this teaching method.This new method is proven to be effective and is well received by the students.
