Wilson Disease: Implications for Pregnancy

2019
Abstract Prior to advent of effective therapy, women with Wilson disease (WD) often experienced poor reproductive outcomes, suffering from infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and stillbirth. Following the introduction of penicillamine in 1956, uncomplicated pregnancies culminating in term deliveries of healthy infants were reported with increasing frequency. Contemporary treatment regimens have allowed patients with controlled disease to anticipate obstetrical outcomes comparable to the general population.
