Propagation of acoustic waves in partially saturated porous media

1984
The propagation of acoustic waves in a partially saturated porous medium is modeled analytically using the continuum theory of mixtures. Three dynamic equations are obtained for the velocities of the liquid, gas and solid phases. The coefficients contain an explicit dependence on the capillary pressure or surface tension. The resulting equations are discussed in the context of previously developed models.
