Designing of an Elliptical Ultra-wideband Monopole patch Antenna

In this paper, an elliptical-shape monopole patch antenna for ultra-wideband communication is proposed. Various modifications have been made in the simple elliptical- shape monopole antenna to yield a wide impedance bandwidth. The optimized antenna design is fabricated and tested in order to verify the simulated outcome. There is good treaty between measured and simulated results. Experimental outcome confirms that optimized version provides approx. 11.6 GHz impedance bandwidth. Stable radiation characteristics in between the operating frequency range make the proposed antenna suitable for UWB communication system.
