Robust digital optical switch based on a novel patterning technique for 'oversized' polymer rib waveguides

We present a digital polymer switch based on a novel robust waveguide concept. The device is polarisation independent, high temperature stable (Tg>350/spl deg/C) and exhibits an extinction ratio of more than 25 dB.
