Research on Lightweight Design of a Machine Tool Component Based on Unit Mass Stiffness

In the design process of machine tool structure, the weight of machine tool can be lightened by optimizing the thickness and shape of the body. Bending stiffness, tensional stiffness, first-order bending mode, and first order tensional modal, are all important index of machine tool bed performances. These are usually the optimal goals of early designs. Nevertheless, these performances cannot qualify the influences on lightweight. Through the organic combination of these performance indicators and quality, it is easy to put forward unit mass of stiffness (machine components unit stiffness) which considers every performance of the machine tool bed on the quality concept, so as to be used for light-weighting machine tool quality level of lightweight. These unit mass stiffness as the target value, the important parts of the screening analysis, through the quantification of the impact of each variable on lightweight, select conducive to lightweight variables, lightweight machine tools for multi-objective optimization.
