Advanced steelmaking technology in tire cord steel

This paper introduces the advanced steelmaking process of tire cord steel.Kobe Steel Ltd.,Japan is taken as an example to introduce focally the new technologies to control the chemical composition and inclusion in tire cord steel,and five technical inventions to improve the toughness of multi-component oxide inclusion and fine the particles of inclusion by adding new lithium-containing material in liquid steel are summarized and analyzed.In continuous casting field,the dynamic soft reduction,EMS and electric pulse techniques are proved to be the effective measures to prevent the tire cord steel slab from center segregation and looseness,and consequently improve the quality of tire cord steel.The paper at the end points out that the new technique developed by Kobe Steel can be used to produce the ultra clean tire cord steel with the excellent quality in cold working property and fatigue performance,resulting in the obviously economic benefit.
