Fulminant hepatitis A complicated by Takotsubo syndrome successfully treated with standard volume plasma exchange

2019
Abstract Fulminant hepatic failure is an unusual complication of hepatitis A virus infection with poor prognosis without liver transplantation. We report a case of fulminant hepatitis A complicated with severe cardiac dysfunction related to Takotsubo syndrome that was considered a contraindication for transplantation and was successfully managed with standard volume plasma exchange.
