Analysis of the clinical and prognostic factors of gastric cancer after radical gastrectomy.

2009
Objective To study the long term survival factor of gastric carcinoma after subtotal gastrectomy.Method Clinical data of 150 patients of gastric carcinoma after subtotal gastrectomy were collected and retrospectively analyzed.Result Sexuality, pathological staging and size of the tumor are the factors affecting the survival rate of patients after radical gastrectomy.Male patients had a lower survival rate than the female patients(P 0.05).Pathological staging is an important factor in the assessment of the survival rate(P0.01).Patients with a tumor volume greater than 4cm had a lower survival rate than with a tumor volume less than 4 cm(P0.05).Age,histological types and the degree of radical cure were not the key factors in the assessment of the patient survival. Conclusion Sexuality, pathological staging and the size of tumor are the major factors for the prognosis of carcinoma of stomach.Early detection and treatment are important in improving the survival rate.
