Two cases of frequent eye blink treated by acupuncture in children

2021
ABSTRACT One 11-year-old male case complained with “frequent blink of eyes for 4 years, aggravated for 2 months”, and was diagnosed as excessive eye blink. On the base of the treatment of western medicine, acupuncture was compiled at Fēngchi (风池GB20), Sibai (ST2四白), Yangbai (阳白GB14) punctured through to Yuyāo (EX-HN4鱼腰), et al. Another 9-year-old male case complained with “frequent blink of eyes for half a year”, and was diagnosed as excessive eye blink too. On the base of the treatment of western medicine, acupuncture was applied at Chĭze (尺泽LU5), ST2, GB14 punctured to EX-HN4, Sānyīnjiāo (三阴交SP6), Taixī (太溪KI3), et al. After the treatment, all of the symptoms were disappeared and were not recurred in 1-year follow-up in the two case. Although these two cases share the same disease in western medicine, the etiologies are diverse in traditional Chinese medicine. Hence, the therapeutic methods are different, including various acupoint selections and needling techniques for reducing and reinforcing, which should be thought deeply and applied into clinic.
