Unusual oversized bile duct cyst

2008
Case report: We report the case of a 74 years old female admitted for upper abdominal pain, symptom that occurred about 2 years ago, but intensified in the last 2 weeks. Blood tests did not reveal any abnormalities. Abdominal US detected in the left and partialy right hepatic lobe a cystical mass, about 15cm in diameter, and other two smaller cyst-like masses in the right hepatic lobe, aspect sustained also by the CT. Cystojejunoanastomosis was performed. HP examination revealed the diagnosis of bile duct cysts. Discussion: Bile duct cysts also called choledocal cysts is rarely diagnosed in adulthood. The diagnosis of choledochal cyst is usually made in the first few years of life, and more than 60% of all cases are diagnosed in the first decade. Presentation in adulthood is uncommon and is often associated with complication of the cyst. We think that the case is particularly based on the unusual size of the cyst.
