Common pathogens in intensive care unit

2011
OBJECTIVE To retrospectively analyze the distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility of pathogens in various infections samples of the intensive care unit(ICU) patients and to provide guidance for guiding clinical rational use of drug, decreasing resistant bacteria, taking timely and effective quarantine measures, reducing nosocomial infections and improving medical quality.METHODS A total of 328 strains of pathogens in various infections samples of 404 inpatients of intensive care unit(ICU) from Apr 2009 to Mar 2010 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS The original bacteria samples from sputum, urine and blood accounted for 81.40%,5.18% and 5.18%,respectively.The samples of the positive rate was 24.85%,The distribution of nosocomial infection accounted for 71.95% Gram-negative bacteria,Gram-positive bacteria accounted for 16.16%,ESBL production among E.coli strains accounted for 78.95% of Staphylococcus aureus,MRSA accounted for 97.67%,fungi accounted for 11.89% CONCLUSION Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Acinetobacter baumannii and Staphylococcus aureus are the dominant pathogens with the character of multidrug resistance in ICU.We should pay close attention to them in clinical therapy.
