The Effect of Molecular Mass of PEO and the salt content on its Isothermal Crystallization Behaviour for PEO:LiClO4 Electrolyte

2010
Poly Ethylene Oxide (PEO) of different molecular masses (Mη = 6⋅105 to 4⋅106 g mol−1) and lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) complexes were studied. Salt concentrations of the samples were varied between 2 to 13 wt%. At isothermal crystallization temperature Tc = const, addition of Li salt causes a dramatic slowing down of the rate of isothermal crystallization. This effect is more pronounced in PEO with higher Mηs. Moreover, at constant salt content and at constant Mη of PEO, the rate of crystallization of all the PEO samples decreases exponentially with ascending Tc. Besides, crystallinity (X*) of PEO for PEO samples increases with elevating Tc. The increase in X* in ascending Tc follows the order of higher to lower molecular mass of PEO.
